Kiwi Vegan was born after my partner and I had been vegan for just over a year. That year saw us become passionate about all things vegan, as we always will be. Having realised the terrifying abuse of animals that is prevalant in our society we suffererd from guilt and despair. I knew I wanted to play whatever part I could in helping stop this abuse and encourage people to make that connection ~ between what they are eating and wearing and the monstrous suffering that is inflicted on others by regarding them as objects, as ingredients or as clothes, rather than living beings.
I started the Kiwi Vegan website to support the growing number of vegans in New Zealand. I was always looking for vegan groups, vegan food, vegan t shirts etc and I wanted a site that could encourage discussion, articles and sharing related to New Zealand. This included developing a brand for my T Shirt collection that you know is local, and developed by vegans. (Many vegan t shirts are developed by designers working for giant t shirt sites, who will equally design a pro-meat t shirt or whatever they think will sell.)
I I wanted my collection to be by vegans and for my T Shirt designs to provoke thought, amuse and perhaps convert.
